Hello,

I've just got my1960 Buescher Aristocrat today, but it came without the 3rd slide ring.

Are there any other compatible brands of 3rd slide ring available?

I don't mind if I don't get the original 3rd slide ring.

There are few options on eBay, but I'm not sure which one might fit the Buescher.

Thank you.

I would imagine any brass repair shop in your area would have a bucket or can full of them. Not an odd size. Prob. better off just trying some until yo find one that fits. Not a lot of Buescher specific parts on ebay or the internet.

I too would like to hear your take on the Buescher. Since you have owned so many high end horns and highly collectible models and you are rather young your take is different then many on vintage horns. So I always enjoy hearing what you have to say on various horn.

Slightly off topic:

I just bought a Buescher with bell damage just to have the valve assembly for future projects. I am just too smitten with the hour glass or wasp waist design on the pre-Selmer models. Not sure what bell she will get depends on the compression. If she has good compression I will build something right away with her if not I will lube her up and put her on the shelf until I have the time to rebuild the valves. I just as excited as you this will make my 3rd Buescher.

I will have to clean it first and replace the felts (that are very old).

I will do the "valve alignment at home" procedure, as described by Brad Goode or the procedure described by lh on the following post of that topic.

The overall tone and free blowing experience is great! Nice and mellow if you back off and clear higher notes if you push it. So nice and easy to play.

The instrument is just very dirty from sitting on the shelf for so long. My breath smells after I play it. I HAVE to clean it first, and replace the felts.

Other than that, that's a GREAT horn! I also like the way it looks!

Glad to hear you're happy with the horn. Whenever I get a new (old) horn, I must clean it before I get into playing it. Take care. Jon

I got my 22B yesterday and I am really happy with it. It has the dark lacquer and has a tremendous core sound. I need to do a valve alignment on it though. A cool little horn. Perfect for small group jazz, which is the reason I bought it.
