I've found one for sale at a pretty cheap price. Everything works but it looks like the devil. You gurus think its worth anything?

I don't know how the Couesnon Lafayette cornets compare to the trumpets, but I'm pretty sure the Couesnon Lafayette trumpet is a student horn. I learned to play on a Lafayette trumpet, and still have one somewhere. Intonation on my Lafayette trumpet is problematic; there's no third valve finger ring or first valve thumb saddle, but I can bring it into playable condition if I preset the valve slides with a tuner. I think it sounded OK last time I played it, but it's a very different beast from my usual implements of destruction. I don't know if my experience is typical, or if using a Couesnon mouthpiece would make a difference. _________________ Steve Thiel

I would agree with Steve on this one. I don't have any direct experience with these, but I do a lot of ebay research before buying horns and this is known as an entry level horn. I have never heard anyone rave about one. As far as other Couesnon trumpets, IDK, some may be OK or better. The flugels, of course, are well known and play well.
I'd probably look for an Olds Ambassador in decent shape instead if I wanted a decent cheap horn . . . . _________________ royjohn

Never know what you're going to get with a Couesnon--and I own two--a Flugel and a Picc. The typical Couesnon has intonation and valve problems. If you find one without intonation problems it's a keeper because they usually play very well. However, odds are that the valves will need to be rebuilt--sooner than later. _________________ Recording Olds Trumpet

Thanks for the replies. I kind of figured that was the case with the horn, but I have no experience with this brand so I just wanted to confirm my thoughts. The horn is only $50 so I pretty much knew it was either worth nothing or being sold by someone who knew nothing. Lol
