|

Hi there,
I play a Curry 1.5C stock on Bb, C, D and Eb piston tpts.
I play a Curry 1.5BC stock on C and Bb rotary tpts.
If you play that too, then what do you play on picc?
These I've tried on picc and they didn't work for me:
Bach 7E
Bach 7D
And even smaller Bachs
I currently play a Bach 7DW when I have to play picc, but I don't think it's ideal for me: Intonation issues and I'm simply do not feel comfortable, mentally or chop wise. Don't feel that I can trust it to "just work".
Must fit a trumpet receiver. Not cornet.
I heard others being happy with:
Schilke 11A
Schilke 13B
What is your opinion? |

7EW does the trick for me. If this doesn't work for you, maybe look at Curry's ZM, Star, or DE in a 5 or 7 diameter. _________________ Yamaha 6345S

Honestly we can't really suggest Picc mouthpieces other than what works for us or people we know
I've used a Bach 7DW, a stork 3B+C (3B pumper cup, C backbore), 4C+C, and now am on a ACB 5C.
You don't have to play on a small diameter picc mouthpiece, you could try something larger and see if that fits your chops well. Stork makes picc mouthpieces, as do laskey, curry, and a number of other manufacturers |

Mates, I use a 1.25BC for Bb/C trumpet and a Yamaha Custom Pierre Dutot piccolo mouthpiece. This combination has been working quite well for me, even though you'd initially find the Pierre Dutot mouthpiece a little big for a picc (but it works). _________________ Sorry. It was me. |

| I play on a Curry 1.5 C mainly and I also was looking for a good mouthpiece for picc work last year. I use the Curry 1.5 DE now and it works great for me. It has a great sound and I really like how it is the same rim as my main mouthpiece. |

Try Mark's M/25 or 26 throat/10 backbore! _________________ Dave Bacon

I play on a Bach 1.5C and a Curry 1.5BBC (cornet). I have tended to play on larger piccolo mouthpieces and have ordered a special ACB 1.5 "something or other" on a short trumpet shank which should sort out some of the intonational issues.
I do know what you mean about the shallower mouthpieces not feeling quite right. When I have played smaller mouthpieces it was a yamaha 11C4 but mainly a Bach 6 cornet shank (which I still find to be the best piccolo mouthpiece - but not for the feint hearted). _________________ "I play as I please." Bb - Bach 43
Eb - Schilke E3L-4 with D bell and slides
Pic - Chinese rotary with Blackburn lead pipe
Flugel - B&H Imperial
Cornet - B&H Sovereign 928 |
