Opening Weekend
Christoph von Dohnányi opens the 2012 Tanglewood season with the very program that was performed at the first Tanglewood concert on Aug. 5, 1937: Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 3, Symphony No. 6, the "Pastoral," and Symphony No. 5.
On Saturday, violinist Joshua Bell is the soloist in a program that includes the world premiere of Edgar Meyer's Double Concerto and the Symphony No. 4 by Tchaikovsky, conducted by Michael Stern.
On Sunday conductor Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops welcome Broadway and film icon Bernadette Peters to the Koussevitzky Music Shed.
Friday, July 13 - Sunday, July 15
75th Anniversary Celebration Weekend
On Friday, violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter joins the BSO as both soloist and conductor for an all-Mozart program that includes the Violin Concertos Nos. 2, 3, and 5.
On Saturday, the BSO, the Boston Pops, and the Tanglewood Festival Chorus celebrate 75 years of Tanglewood, with conductors John Williams, Keith Lockhart, and Andris Nelsons, along with cellist Yo-Yo Ma, pianists Peter Serkin and Emanuel Ax, violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, and singer-songwriter James Taylor.
On Sunday conductor Andris Nelsons leads the BSO in Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms, with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, and the Symphony No. 2 by Brahms.
Friday, July 20 - Sunday, July 22
Eschenbach, All-Wagner, and All-Mozart
Christoph Eschenbach is the conductor on Friday with Bernstein's Serenade (after Plato's Symposium), with violin soloist Dan Zhu, and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, the "Pathétique."
On Saturday, conductor Asher Fisch leads the BSO in a reconstruction of the never-completed concert programmed for Aug. 12, 1937: Wagner's Overtures to Rienzi and Tannhäuser, "Forest Murmurs" from Siegfried, and more. (The concert was rained out, providing the impetus for the construction of the Koussevitzky Music Shed.)
On Sunday conductor Kurt Masur leads an all-Mozart program that includes the Piano Concerto No. 24 with soloist Gerhard Oppitz.

Brazil, Berlioz, and Tchaikovsky
On Friday, Brazilian pianist Nelson Freire is the soloist in Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 and Villa-Lobos's Momoprecoce, conducted by fellow Brazilian Marcelo Lehninger, who also leads the BSO in Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition.
On Saturday, mezzo-soprano Susan Graham sings in Berlioz's La Damnation de Faust, with baritone Willard White and bass-baritone Christopher Felgum, conducted by Charles Dutoit.
On Sunday Charles Dutoit conducts the BSO in Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3, with soloist Emanuel Ax, and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5.
Friday, Aug. 5 - Sunday, Aug. 7
Finley, Bronfman, and Thibaudet
Baritone Gerald Finley is the soloist in Friday in opera arias by Mozart and Ravel's Don Quichotte à Dulcinée, part of a program that also includes the Suite No. 2 from Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé, all conducted by Lorin Maazel.
On Saturday, pianist Yefim Bronfman is the soloist for Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 2, and Christoph von Dohnányi conducts Schumann's Symphony No. 4.
On Sunday pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet is the soloist for Saint-Saëns's Piano Concerto No. 5, the "Egyptian," and Lorin Maazel conducts a world premiere by Michael Gandolfi and the Symphonie fantastique by Berlioz.
Friday, Aug. 10 - Sunday, Aug. 12
Bach, Elgar, and Strauss
On Friday, Pinchas Zukerman is the conductor and soloist, along with the BSO's Principal Flutist Elizabeth Rowe, Principal Oboist John Ferrillo, and Concertmaster Malcolm Lowe, for concertos by J.S. Bach.
On Saturday, Yo-Yo Ma is the soloist in Elgar's Cello Concerto, part of a concert that includes a world premiere by Andre Previn and the Symphony No. 5 by Shostakovich, all conducted by Stéphane Denève.
On Sunday, Paul Lewis is the soloist in Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in a program that also includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 4 and Richard Strauss's Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks, all conducted by Christoph von Dohnányi.

John Williams 80th Birthday Celebration
On Friday, Gil Shaham joins the BSO as the soloist in Barber's Violin Concerto, in a program that includes Copland's Appalachian Spring and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, conducted by Bramwell Tovey.
On Saturday, the Boston Pops and Tanglewood celebrate the 80th birthday of Laureate Conductor John Williams, with guests including conductors Keith Lockhart and Leonard Slatkin, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, and soprano Jessye Norman.
On Sunday, conductor Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos leads the BSO in Beethoven's Violin Concerto, with soloist Gil Shaham, and Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra.
Friday, Aug. 24 - Sunday, Aug. 26
American Songbook, Music from Spain, and Beethoven's Ninth
On Friday, Keith Lockhart leads the Boston Pops in a celebration of Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, and other composers of the American Songbook with guest vocalists Maureen McGovern and Brian Stokes Mitchell.
On Saturday, Spanish conductor Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos conducts the BSO in Suite española, his own arrangement of music by Albéniz, and Falla's La vide breve.
On Sunday, Frühbeck leads the BSO and Tanglewood Festival Chorus in the season-ending concert, including a world premiere by John Harbison and the Symphony No. 9, the "Ode to Joy," by Beethoven.
