Our quintet has been invited to perform with a local community band in early August. So, of course, we need music. I've found that brass quintet with concert band accompaniment music is hard to find.
The band parts need to be not terribly difficult. This band does the one rehearsal and then play the concert routine, and they do lots of music rotating. So, they're not too used to preparing new music in a hurry.
I've looked at 'Shaker Suite' [R. Wright], Canadian Brass Concert Band Works published by Hal Leonard. The band part is too technical and has too many difficult keys for the band. The James Stephenson thngs are too difficult for the band, also.
Any suggestions and/or sources would be appreciated! Thanks. _________________ PCC

There is a piece written for brass quintet and wind ensemble by Leonard Berstein called "Suite from Mass". Not sure who arranged it, but neither the brass quintet parts nor the band parts are difficult. Nice piece, though. |

I know this is too late for the August concert you mentioned but for future reference, Canadian Brass has a Concert band plus Brass Quintet arrangement of That's A Plenty that is a bit easier (grade 4) than what you mentioned earlier. http://www.canadianbrassstore.com/thats-a-plenty/

If the band isn't great, try John Cheetham's "Concertino for Brass Quintet and Concert Band" (15 minutes, grade 4 band parts).
If the band is really good, you can check out Eric Ewazen's "Shadowcatcher" (almost 30 minutes, grade 5/6 band parts).
