|
|
Recently, I've switched from a Bach 180-37SG to the Yamaha LA. I've found significant improvements from the switch including, but not limited to intonation, openness, but most notably "slotting" of notes. Can anyone shed light on why this is the case? |

Several things could've made your Bach feel bad to you--receiver gap off-spec, receiver not centered on leadpipe, valves out of alignment, tension in the bracing, obstructions in the bore, leaky spit corks, leaky valves and/or slides. If your horn didn't have any of these problems, chances are you'd love it. _________________ 1970 Bach 37 Strad

The Yam LA is generally a more open feeling horn than the good old 180-37, so maybe that open-ness suits you more.
Personally I've always found Bach 37s to be a struggle, they close up on me as I get louder/higher.
Those LAs are one of the better trumpets floating around at the moment - so easy to get along with....I'd have one in a flash if my "manager" let me....
Enjoy!
