In answer to my earlier question as to who was the great trumpet soloist on Eddie Fisher's #1 record of 1954, OH MEIN PAPA, the trumpeter was the late Charlie Margulis. Charliie was a veteran of the great Paul Whiteman orchestra, played lead with Tommy Dorsey, Jimmy Dorsey and Benny Goodman at various times in the 1940's and 1950's. He was considered the "first call" lead trumpet for studio sessions in those years and very much in demand. He played right up to the end in Las Vegas shows when he died at the age 64 in 1967 on vacation in Minnesota.
