Hello TH:
Out of curiosity does anybody knows if the Nigth in Tunisia solo / cadenza that Arturo play's, is that from another solo or lick that he use for that purpose? Is on the Dizzy Gillespie United Nation live recording, the four 8va lick at the end, someone screams mexico, getsico??

Thanks

It was part of the cadenza that Dizzy played on the original recording. It is also a very common "lick" that people use to end tunes, not just Tunisia.

Actually, the original version of that tune has Dizzy playing a quiet little mid-register cadenza with cup mute at the end. The trademark high lick B-G-D#-F# came along later, but I'm not sure exactly when.

Right. We're talking about the same recording. He plays most of that kick at the very beginning of his cadenza.
