UPDATE!

The Cases will be in next week and we will be shipping out horns then. I will post pictures of the whole package and reveal the MSRP and actual street price (estimated of course).

Thanks for your patience and continued interest in our work.

Adam - any update? It's been two weeks since you said next week!

I have a very disappointing update to share:

The manufacturer that we use for our cases sent the first shipment to us (around 12 units) and they were junk. They took the liberties of design upon themselves to change the shell of the case as well as changing some of the internals. The cases LOOKED the part but would very obviously not held up for the life of the horn.

I cannot begin to describe how disappointed I am in them. We have these horns (with orders for them) just waiting to get out into the wild and the launch has been hamstrung by a case company. It almost makes me want to make them in house. Almost.

I'll keep you all informed as best I can. We supposedly are still getting the remainder of our cases at the end of the month but at this point I'm about ready to put them in our current doubler case at a reduced price.

Sorry to keep you all waiting so long. I am just as anxious as you are to see these wonderful horns out in the wild. We just couldn't put something out there at this level that we didn't 100% believe in.

All my best,
Adam R. Getzen

As much as I don't enjoy waiting, I appreciate your desire to have them right. I'm fussy about cases too.

When I was in middle school I always felt that if I was being harassed for being a band geek that I could beat them with my case (and not hurt the horn). Yet another advantage of a Getzen horn.

Gary.

Adam,

Very sorry to hear about the diffculties with the cases, but you're doing the right thing.

Just take your time, and make sure everything is as you want it, before you send the horns out into the world.

Good luck!

How can you have orders for them? Are some dealers keeping a waiting list? Dillons wouldn't do that. If some are, I would like to know which ones so I can get on the list.

Not to take anything away from Getzen, but I could beat them with my Olds Ambassador trumpet and it would still play and look the same...

Looking back, maybe one of the biggest handicaps for us student trumpeters in those days was those stinking, awful, tight, crappy Olds 3 mouthpieces.

Can I just buy one without the stinking case? This is crazy!

In junior high school, I took my Olds 3 to the metal shop teacher, and had him teach me to use the lathe. Changed the mouthpiece quite a lot, but made it more comfortable. Wish I still had it, as it'd probably be an interesting experiment to measure it and find out what I made.

I bought a Getzen flugelhorn from the Washington Music Center in 1968. One of the VERY nice things about that horn was the doubler's case that came with it. I was so impressed by the case that I had the store order me another case, which was presented to my high school band leader as a gift.
Why not just continue the tradition? Nobody uses a single flugelhorn case anyway.
We're ALL doublers, right?

Nope. Most of the time I play flugel, it's in a brass band. It's rare for me to use it elsewhere in recent years.

Still, I wouldn't mind a nice double case...

The new case is a doubler.

Glad to hear the new horn will come with a double case.

I bought my current Getzen flugelhorn from Sam Ash in Paramus, NJ in 1977. I agree that the Getzen double cases are fantastic. So I can understand why Getzen wants to make sure the case for their new horn follows in this same tradition.

Some of us already have a doubler case and don't necessarily need an additional one. None of us have the new Getzen Flugelhorn because of this new doubler case, which may not fit our trumpet anyway.

After the case issue is resolved, what will likely be the MSRP?

I've been holding off "pulling the trigger" on a 3895, waiting for to hear about the price and availability of this.
Now I'm getting just a little worried about Getzen... I mean, it's a case!!! Can't you solve this? Come on!

Before you guys jump all over me, please understand, I'm just looking for reassurance about my choice. HELP!
