I have been a dedicated reader of Trumpet Corner (Karl Sievers) both on the old Bach website and on the Bach Facebook site. It seems to have disappeared. Does anyone know if it will be back or if it has been relocated?

I really enjoy Karl's insights and perspectives.

Thanks,

I was wondering the same thing just a few days ago.
I would love to see the return of the facebook page even if to only re-read the existing posts.

Trumpet Corner on the old Conn-Selmer website got amazingly thoroughly hacked. It had about a zillion spam messages inserted everywhere, and was deemed un-save-able. It's a shame that we lost literally thousands of good posts...

since then, the powers that be at Conn-Selmer decided to go the Facebook route, which IMO doesn't work so well for what we were trying to do, but there you go.

If interested, go to the Facebook "Conn-Selmer" page and have at it. As always I'll answer any sincere question the best I can.

happy 2014 everybody -

KS.

Indeed. I thoroughly enjoyed that site and learned a great deal from it. Facebook is definitely a far cry from a searchable forum.

Hi Karl,

I remember the old Bach trumpet corner getting hacked! Was a real shame. Why anybody with a reasonable level of computer skills would want to waste their time in such a destructive way.

Anyhow, I seemed to remember there being a facebook page which you would regularly post 'words of wisdom' on. I think you also posted some youtube videos of you playing. Was that on the Conn-Selmer page? I don't remember there being so many other people posting on it. In fact I can't find the posts you made on Conn-Selmer or Bach Brass.
Did you start a separate page last year?

Happy New Year!

Jon

I'll be the first to admit that I don't use Facebook. But I clicked the link above and found a Facebook page that seemed to me to be essentially advertisement for Bach products. I didn't know how to navigate to get to something similar to what Karl Sievers was doing with Trumpet Corner on the old Bach website.

What am I doing wrong? Or more appropriately, what do I do to get to where Karl answers questions about trumpet playing? (I sure miss the old Trumpet Corner.)

I'm going to see if there is a way to separate "my" stuff from the commercial effort on that FaceBook page.. not sure what our limitations are. In the meantime, look for "thought for the day" headings... that may help you find my offerings. and of course you can comment or ask questions attached to those posts.

a work in progress... hopeful!

I second the comment on wishing Karl would post here on the Herald. Loved his outlook on trumpet playing.
