The M stands for mellophone I think. It is a 6B with a larger back bore and 26 hole. |

The M doesn't really stand for anything; it's just used to differentiate it from a regular 6B.
The 6BM is a 6B cup with the bore opened up one drill size (#26) and a symphonic "24" backbore. The 24 backbore may be a bit bigger than the 7 backbore which comes standard on the regular 6B, and it sounds a bit livelier.
It's a fantastic orchestral mouthpiece for those who play on smaller diameters. I had one for sale for a long time. Not sure if I still have it, or if someone ended up buying it. _________________ 1970 Bach 37 Strad

I have both a trumpet and cornet piece in this size. Nice mouthpiece - I like the cornet version for use in a concert band setting when there's a mix of cornets and trumpets in the section. The trumpet version has a nice B-cup sound without the dullness that comes with the standard 6 and 6B trumpet pieces. I like the Bach 6 cornet mouthpiece, too, and it also comes with a 24 backbore standard. I suspect the 24 backbore accounts for most of the improvement in these pieces. _________________ "Brass bands are all very well in their place - outdoors and several miles away ." - Sir Thomas Beecham |

I used to have the mouthpiece in screw-rim form with a 2C rim. Beautiful piece. Like stated above, it has a 26 throat and a symphonic (24) backbore. I used it on my C trumpet. _________________ Matthew Porter

Thanks guys.. but does it really feel smaller? I ask because I found an old bach 7C that really didnt feel much different than the pickett 3c I had at the time. (maybe the rim was a bit thinner) _________________ Blessing 1580

I have a 6BM, it has a deep(ish) cup like a 7C, but the rim is really comfortable, unlike the 7C.
My favorite Bach mp. |

6BM feels bigger than a 7C to me...not only do I think the cup makes it feel bigger but the backbore allows for a more open feeling |

A really good mpc to try, especially if you're looking for a diameter the same or more similar to your pic mpc |
