I am the executor of my dad's estate. My dad had many trumpets, and many mouthpieces, and I am trying to match up appropriate mouthpieces to trumpets, some for sale and some to keep. I played as a teenager, nearly 4 decades ago, so I have limited knowledge and memory.

Does anyone know what mouthpiece might have come originally with an early '70's Yamaha flugelhorn?

I'd guess either a Yamaha 11F4, possibly a 14F4.

Tell us what Yamaha flugel pieces you have and we will likely be able to tell you which one came with the horn - if any.

I do, definitively. It would have come with a Yamaha 12F3D piece. Your welcome!

I'm sorry about your loss.

I bought my Yamaha Flügelhorn new in 1977 and I'm pretty sure it came with a Yamaha 14F4 mouthpiece.

If you find any Yamaha mouthpiece in your Dad's collection with an "F" somewhere in the model designation, that's probably the one that came with the horn and it would be nice to include it in the sale of the Flügelhorn (though if I were you, I'd keep that Flügelhorn as it's always nice to have one). But as for any other trumpets or the piccolo trumpet, as others have written, it's probably not all that important to sell any of them with the mouthpiece. Sell those mouthpieces separately and you'll make more money, and be assured that people who actually want the particular mouthpieces end up with them.

Be sure to list the horns in the Marketplace here! Even if you choose to sell them on eBay, you can place Marketplace ads here for free referencing the eBay listings.

Best wishes,

John Mohan

My Yamaha 731 came with a 12F3D, though it was a used horn.
