I have names for mine:

My Bb I call "the Wild Thing"

My C is "the Benge"

My cornet is "the Wedgwood" in formal situations but when it is just between the two of us it's "the Wedgie"

The DQ modified cornet/flugel cross I call "the copper cornet"

My flugel I call "my flugel"

I keep it simple. "The Bb", "The C", "The flugel", "The picc", "The Eb/D", etc.

They're not boats.

Yes each of my horns has a woman's name, but I will not mention them, because my wife is not far from this computer...

Mine only have names during moments of frustration. They are not nice names and they sometimes change.

Wahaha! I have always wished I gave my first trumpet a man's name because sometimes I say things like "I'm going to go make-out with my trumpet in the closet." Just think "I'm going to go make-out with Serge in the closet."

Really? I haven't had that problem here, I frequently refer to mine here as "You****** ****** ***** piece of unplayable ****** ****** ".

Wow, you're right, same thing just happened to me. 😳

I don't call my instruments bad names. They call me bad names.
