This recording was posted on a non trumpet forum, and I thought there would be some real interest here. This a recorded radio broadcast, not a record.

Thank you very much for posting the link to this wonderful recording! I was a student of Gilbert Johnson from 1999 - 2001 and it is simply amazing to hear him play Brandenburg! If you find any more of Mr. Johnson's recordings (or live broadcasts), please share them with us!

There's a recording I found of Saul Caston playing it with Philly...the first ever recording of it. 1928, Stokowski conducting. I downloaded the MP3's, but let me see if I can find the actual link...

Thanks for the link to the broadcast!

I have added Gil Johnson to my list of players of BB2:

http://abel.hive.no/trumpet/bach/brandenburg/BWV1047.html

.. as you will see, Caston was the first to record BB2, but Ernest Hall also did a recording the same year (1928).

This is especially cool for me because the violinist, Brusilow, was our orchestra conductor in grad school.

So what happened to the link and the file? It appears to have been deleted. Can anyone help find this? Thanks
