I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on this exercise. When it starts to move into the upper register why does it not just continue chromatically to cover all the pitches rather than just use the starting notes of C, Db and D and the resulting arpeggios?
Exercise 3B does something similar but not exactly the same. I can't really see any reason other than saving some time and paper. I have an early hand written version of this but I can not say who wrote it. It simply has one of the first exercises written out and then says "continue up chromatically."
Anyone have firsthand experience? _________________ Scott Apelgren

Simply lack of space on the page. The publisher could have put all of them in but would require more paper. |
