|
|
Hi all, I've done a lot of searching around here on the forums and internet in general looking for a quad case I can use on a day to day basis. Something not too heavy or large. From what I've seen the Stomvi quad case seems to be the best but I'd like to see if anyone knows of any others that may have come out recently I should be aware of? Thanks |

Brass Bags (UK) are pretty awesome.

I had a triple once, regretfully sold it. |

I've owned an MB, Stomvi, and Brassbags quads.
They are all great!
The MB is cumbersome. The Brassbags, even with the boards is still not nearly as safe.
The Stomvi is the best compromise. Much more protective than the Brassbags. Lighter and less clunky than the MB.
It's also a good value, at $400. |

I love the Stomvi quad case, it is save to do gate check if you are on small airplanes, I do it all the time and have not had any issues. And of course, it fits larger planes perfectly. It is also very light for being a hard case, probably the lightest. |

If lightness is what you're look for, the Brass Bags wins hands down. While others are certainly more protective, I used one almost exclusively for nearly a decade and never had a single injured horn. |

How does the Protec Quad compare to the Torpedo Coyote Snarl? I strongly suspect I could not really fit four horns (say Bb, C, picc, flugel) into the quad but would like to fit any combination of three...
The Protec quad is way cheaper, natch... $220 vs. nearly $700 for the Snarl with wheels. _________________ "After silence, that which best expresses the inexpressible, is music" - Aldous Huxley |

Bags Of Spain (Stomvi is a rebrand) is great. Super small, light, and very protective. The only quad case that isn't ridiculously large. |

Remind me again how the Coyote is a quad? Because I'm fairly confident looking at mine that I couldn't get 4 horns in there, unless they were all pocket trumpets. _________________ "Music is like candy, you throw the (w)rappers away." |

Protec IPAC would be my choice. Costs less than $200 and offers very good protection. There are lot of extra pads included and the whole interior is configurable to fit your needs. There are also one with wheels available. |

The Coyote is not a quad, just a triple, sorry if I implied that. Looking at the pictures, I am not sure I could actually fit four horns into the Protec Quad, but most of the time I only need two or three. A triple would do, but I am curious from those who have seen and/or used both how they compare. Especially given the substantial price difference. _________________ "After silence, that which best expresses the inexpressible, is music" - Aldous Huxley |
