Another good idea would be to take standard tunes( like those tunes you would play on the gig) and learn those tunes in every key.
This is not only excellent training for transposition, which is very important, but it is also very good for the chops and developing endurance.

I was born in October. And Jack is a nickname for John.

I never understood that why not just name the kid Jack?
