I found this video that may be of interest. It's a clip of Josh Landress talking about his collection of old instruments and mouthpieces.
At 11:10 he starts talking about a Giardinelli mouthpiece that used to belong to Louis Armstrong. He shows it to the camera and if I didn't know better I'd say that it looks exactly like a SC3. Cool stuff.

According to Jerry, Louis played a Rudy Muck that Giardinelli used as a model. Great history.
