Damn. I asked Greg Wing who I could study with in Boston and he said Terry Everson. Is there anyone else you guys could think of?

Why are you set on going to school in Boston? It seems logical to me that if you want to study with a specific type of teacher you need to go where that teacher is teaching.

As of right now I dont want to major in music, and it just so happens that all the schools I want to go to are in Boston. I'm applying to schools with really good music programs so I can at least keep playing and I'm going to practice my ass off.

I'm also considering applying to MSU and IU in case later on in the year I decide I want to focus on music. So I'm trying to keep my options open

I had a lesson with Ansyn Banks this past sunday and it was awesome. That cat is a monster. If you're a jazz player and an Adam student he's the dude to see! I was really blown away by his knowledge and suggestions. Not to mention he's a great human being, and genuine good guy!

I don't think Charley Davis teaches at Cal St Long Beach anymore. He does teach at Citrus College. Bob Slack teaches at Citrus College as well, and also teaches at Azusa Pacific University.

Andy Classen sort of teaches at Drake in Des Moines.
But he's not what you'd call a hardcore Bill Adam beliver.

Thought I would make a plug for myself: I am the brass instructor for the University of Cincinnati Bearcat Bands and give private lessons. I don't, however, teach at CCM.

John Harbaugh - Central Washington University, my undergrad college!

He also produced videos of Mr. Adam talking about his approach, and is considered to be the most true to Adam technique that you can get.

Karl Sievers- University of Oklahoma

I like him very much, and am considering getting my master's with him

I studied with Mr. Adam for 5 years, from 1991-1996, driving once a
month from Chicago for lessons.

I benefited greatly from lessons with him, and owe him a great deal. I do not, however, teach his method or believe that there is any ONE system
which works well for all players.

This is a great thread and a very useful source. It would be great to also have a list of those schools, with Adam teachers, who offer graduate and doctoral programs. Thanks again.

Hi there-

I know that Indiana University (Pat Harbison) and University of Oklahoma (Karl Sievers) both have doctoral programs, and Central Washington University (John Harbaugh) has a masters program.... and he is short a TA right now

Jay also studied with Roy Poper, protege of James Stamp.
