Anybody gotten this? I know they have a great acting section but hope they go through the fair process. _________________ Andrew Harms, DMA

Hmmm.... sounds like a set up to me. Hoping after the whole thread regarding the Houston audition, that this gets figured out quickly. |

I heard from a few people off the record who came to the same conclusion, which is too bad. I consider the current acting second a good friend and they'd be lucky to have him, but it is still my hope that they do a fair audition. _________________ Andrew Harms, DMA

Just curious.....What's going on that's questionable? Not sending confirmation after sending your resume? Or not inviting people? |

Just wondering. Closing date was March 1. Usually get a schedule or deposit notice pretty quick. No list yet. _________________ Andrew Harms, DMA

Apparently I'm not the only person who feels it could be a possibility, as Mr. Harms and his associates also seem to feel that way.
While I want to believe in the system, I'm not naive enough to think that there are never certain courtesies extended behind the scenes sometimes. But, maybe I'm just crazy. |

Hi Everyone,
This audition is not a setup. The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra is one of two orchestras I know of (the met opera orchestra being the other) that requires a screen for all rounds of our auditions. Contractually we are only able to advance local players directly into the 2nd round. This policy includes current members of the orchestra that wish to audition. Numbers for prelim and 2nd round are chosen at random before the rounds begin. We do not have trial weeks, either. In terms of fairness and anonymity we run a very tight ship.
The reason the list hasn't been posted is complicated, and has to do with some internal matters that aren't appropriate for me to discuss here.
In terms of what to do in the meantime, I suggest emailing the Personnel manager until you receive a response. Also, you could use the list from our audition last November as a starting place for your preparation. I put that list together last time, and I wouldn't anticipate too many, if any, changes to it.
Thanks for your time,
Rich Harris

Thanks for clarifying, Rich. Much appreciated. And thank you, mods and parties, for staying civil. I have every respect for all folks involved. _________________ Andrew Harms, DMA
