Dirt Cheep Music Sales? I know that store--they're over on the NW side of town here in Atlanta. I bought my first cornet from them (used) about 20-25 years ago.

I'm pretty sure that Lester Bowie played the CG model Benge most of his career.

Cool. Just sold my 70s Bach. I've wanted to sell it for a while.

If it's still available I think I'm gonna buy it tomorrow
Curious, did you grab it?

Odd... it was marked as sold and now it has been relisted for $1000 ($250 less). The other horn that was posted (with the ".760 bore") sold for $1275.

Lester Bowie played a Benge 5X with a Schilke 8A4 mp.

Some of his "Art Ensemble of Chicago" stuff is pretty out there, and some if it is great.

I seen a few interviews with him. Seemed like a really nice guy, very sad when they go young like that.

playing with Lester and the Brass Fantasy was some of the most fun
that I have ever had on stage. the cats were a bunch of characters and I miss
Lester dearly. he was a loveable cat and a fantastic musician with some crazy
inventive ideas!

Lester did indeed play a Benge but I never knew what model it was. I was playing my LB Bach at the time and my CG was at home. he did have some megatone looking mouthpiece as I remember.

that dude just oozed soul and class!!!
