Just putting this here in case anyone has this problem with a Selmer / Rudy Muck / Courtois balanced trumpet. My case zip broke and because the trumpet is a bit longer I have been storing it in a double case with vertical slots. I had the opportunity to try the Carol Brass case that they supply with various models including their balanced trumpet and it fits. The valve cut outs are correct for the balanced model and the case closes. Its not a perfect fit at the bell bow and was a bit under tension, but I massaged this into a better fit with a small hammer (the case, not the trumpet). This case is a bit longer than the Bach Strad case. The Selmer is nowhere close to fitting into the strad case.

If you need a case for one of the old balanced models this is definitely a workable solution.

Good tip on a case for a balanced model. My pristine 1937 balanced Selmer was purchased without a case and I found a Chinese single case which was easily modified to accommodate the forward valves. The block that held the original valves was carefully removed and re-glued in the correct position to fit the balanced Selmer. Not quite as plush as the beautiful Carol Brass case but the price was certainly right...free.

I considered that option too Tony. Had been using a double case but it was heavier and bigger than this one. I know I am going to use it more now it is easier to get to.

How about a Torpedo Case?

The problem with most cases is that they aren't long enough to take the extra length of the Selmer. Some of the ones with vertical slots work, but I really wanted a quickly deployable case i.e. one without zips.

Then essentially you are looking for something that will cost a LOT. Marcus Bonna, Torpedo, Protec, Wolkpak, and many others are zippered. The only things that are not are the standard makes, and a maker like SKB, but I do not believe that horn fits in an SKB. I own two longer Monettes (61X C and a 149XL) and they fit well in my Torpedo 2.5. However, it is a zippered case.

It may take a pelican case with your efforts to pick and pluck the interior to fit the horn and protect it. Good luck with your search!
