|
|
Just wanted to convey my amazement concerning this: Years ago I bought
a Superchops 1 from mr Callet; the old beutifully shaped version, like a fine vase. Turned out I couldnīt use it. Too cramped, too shallow too everything;
Folks I know have tested it all of them saying "what a weird piece".
Now, 8 months into BE I thought I should give it another try.
After all, Ein und An -setzen seem to be part of the BE. And what happened??Suddenly I could play the d-mn thing! Fine throughout entire register - more apted towards bigband leadchair. But not that thin for everyday blowing..... _________________ Cornets:

Jerry's mouthpieces are very helpful training tools, especially the shallow ones, because they shut off as soon as the chops go in a bad direction. And as soon as the sound gets a powerful, focused, intune core then the chops are going right - so ears and chops build together. |

My hard work is obviously producing results! Thanks a lot for that comment! Sure makes me even more amazed at the BE method.....
Obviously my chops are in a state of becoming - aged 73. _________________ Cornets:

Don't overlook the 2nd part, of course. The sound always has to be powerful and intune with a very dense core. This is something you have to start with, not grow into. Inability to play a shallow mouthpiece is a sure indication that something is wrong. Thin sound is equally indicative. |

Agree!!My old embouchure was wrong, although not completely so. Since rehab clinic with a pro nowadays rather OK - with BE growing better by the day (well week).
But - by thin I meant the difference in sound between a deeper cup, C or deeper - and a lead piece, A cup or even more shallow. Thin might not be the apt description; flatter? Timbre not that warm; less overtones.
Or exaggerated towards the difference between a trumpet and a flugel. _________________ Cornets:
