Brass quintet near Denver, Colorado seeks trumpet player

We are searching for an excellent trumpet player for our new brass quintet. The charts we are playing are grade 5 and 6. (If you aren't familiar with the music grading system, it can easily be found on an Internet search.)

We'd really like someone with a good "arsenal" of horns - minimally a Bb and C. If you also have a piccolo, flugelhorn or cornet, or a D/Eb that would be great.

A strong desire to make this group your main focus is a requirement to fit in. We all want this to be a superb group and need that other trumpet player so we can get on this. It's a really fun group to rehearse with and we are quickly becoming great friends. (Our favorite beer is Dry Dock Blonde Apricot - and we like to add bacon to our pizzas! LOL!)

Good to see you posting, Janet, and nice to know you're still playing!

Out of my league, but there are lots of good players up there so hopefully you'll find a good fit.

There aren't as many as you might think. One thing that I will tell you has eliminated players for consideration (without naming those players here)... they start every note on the soft side and then bring up their volume. What is that? Where does that come from? It's like every note is a crescendo and the only reason it's not heard on short notes is because those notes don't last long enough for that "technique" to be employed. My guess would be that it comes from habit borne out of timidity when learning to play. Fixing that one thing would really ramp up the overall playing levels of these players - and they don't have a clue that they are doing it.
