Ala Borodin Prin Igor Polovetsian Dances... You guys triple, double or flutter? Notes are marked with only two beams, actual flutter usually marked with 3. I don't know why this has never come up over the past 40 years but do not want to consider asking the little guy with the stick... Thanks! |

I've done a tremolo alternating valve combinations , holding down the second valve with the left hand, and pushing one and three with the right on a C tpt. I would say do whatever you want, until told otherwise by Mr. Stick. Don't mention anything to the conductor unless questioned by him. |

No, we never ask... That's worth a try, hadn't considered it. Flutter would be a bit harsh, I'd think. I understand the string-type tremolo. Thanks |

We triple tongue that passage, which depending on the tempo can be a fun exercise to try to fit in all the notes!
I have heard recordings that triple tongue and some that flutter. Either can work.
