Not that one specifically. I have played a 650-280-24. Very comfortable, huge sound, but way too big for me. I put it on a Merkelo backbore and it sucks the air out like a vacuum. |

I think the 275-V is a great cup. It has a bit of a double-cup deal -- it's a bit C shaped at top with a wide, open, V section going into the throat. Big sound for the size cup, IMO. _________________ Isaiah 40:8

I have a 650-275-24 and the "650-275-24 V" model. The V is very free blowing due to the shape so I could see where a 26 throat might be a nice balance. I found the V to be much more capable of color change than the standard. Great high register as well. |

Thank you for your reply trompette229,
What mouthpiece did you use before the Parke?

All pretty similar...Bach 1X 24/24, GR Haefner 1HX, Bach 5B 22/24 with a 1X rim. |

The 275-V specifically reminds me of a few vintage Mt. Vernon 1-1/4C cups I've seen. _________________ Isaiah 40:8

I actually orderet it today - looking forward to test it out in "real life".
In general, I am a big fan of large mouthpieces - not because of the fact that most of famous classical players are using it (because they do - its a fact), but because it fits my face and my sound which I am trying to develop every single day.
There is a lot of theories and opinions out there around small vs. large mouthpieces.
For me - I cannot play small mouthpieces. I use far to large amount of air for the small ones to handle. My embouchure is also supported in the best way from a large size mouthpieces.
Really looking forward for my new Parke mouthpieces.
By the way; The support from Jeff/Dianne has been just great - a lot of communication via FaceBook - quick replies and good conversations.

OK guys, I have now had the pleasure of testing my new Parke 650-275-26 V for a couple of days, and my first impression is very positive.
Of course I need to have more time to really adjust to it, but I already now have decided to have this mouthpiece as my primary one - both on Bb and C trumpet.
First of all I find the sound to be so soft and compact.
It is easier to articulate "in" the sound - not "on" the sound, and it makes articulation much softer and lighter.
This sound and articulation follows the entire register.
Of course, the mouthpiece requires a good set of lungs - but in the end of the day, we are actually playing a wind instrument.....
If anyone else wants to share their experience with this Parke model - feel free to write. Highly appreciated!

Anyone tried the 640/290/24? I've found a used one at a good price but it will be a "blind buy" cannot try first. Seller declare a V shaped cup that is what i'm looking for. How big it is on Bach measure? What kind of rim? Thanks for any input. _________________ ------------------------

The 290 cup will be a (Bach) 1B cup. It's the same basic depth as the Hagstrom piece -- when he played Parke he used the 290 cup. The 640 rim will be 1-1/2C diameter, however will be shaped like the Bach 1X (just scaled down), i.e., somewhat wide and flat with a sharp feel on both the inner and outer rim. _________________ Isaiah 40:8

I found this post at the right moment. Yesterday I got a Parke Merkelo 650-275-24 bronze that came with a screw rim old Bach 1.25. I really apreciate the focus and colour of the sound. However, I don't like so much the 1.25 rim. I think it is feels a little tight and it is sharp too. I've been used to more rounded-type rims. Anyone have a sugestion of a rim that can fit here and be more comfortable for my chops?
Thank you |

I have never tried one, but I know that Parke has a (fairly new) rim labled the "R6" which is supposed to have a more rounded bite, more like a 1C than a 1X if I understand the descriptions correctly. There was a 650 R6 in the marketplace recently but I don't see it now, unfortunately. _________________ Isaiah 40:8
