So great to hear how Sergei is playing now, practically perfection! The Artunian sounds like a walk in the park for him. This may sound weird, but I almost am sad to hear when he is hired to perform "normal" trumpet literature. His technical capabilities are so far beyond just about anyone else alive, it seems like he just "fits" better performing music that even most top-tier professionals wouldn't attempt. |

I asked a Russian friend of mine, and his guess is that it might be a Rachmaninoff vocal piece transcribed for trumpet. If that's notright, I think it's a good guess. If I find out for sure, I will let you know. (It's most probably not a Russian popular song because none of my Russian friends recognized it.)
If you want to listen, the encore is at 55m30s here:

Thanks for posting the link to the encore.... I should have done that.
I checked against my other Nakariakov CDs and nothing matched. |

I contacted SN's agent, and she immediately replied (unlike most people to whom I send queries!) She said she would find out the name of the piece and get back with me. |

The encore is an arrangement of F.Poulenc's song "C'est ainsi que tu es" This is how you are.
Here is the song on YouTube
