I suspect (?) it's mostly/only there so that people know they have it scanned... it's then possible for clients to ask for clones of that cup/throat/backbore combination with a rim they find more familiar?
I know some people (including Lou, if I remember right?) have gone down that route, having Wick pieces made with alternative rims - whether that's a computerised one-piece mating, or a screw-rim match-up. |
