Confession:
I love playing Alto Horn.
I don't just like it.
I love it.
It is more fun than almost anything else I have ever done.
Many years ago I discovered that I have more fun playing a cheap Alto Horn than playing a rare, expensive cornet.
When I play Alto Horn, I feel like I am an amateur in an exuberant Oktoberfest band.
I feel so much better now that I have come out of the closet.

I've played Alto Horn for one of the ensembles I've gigged with from time to time. It is fun! _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet

We should have a "coming out" parade for closet Alto Horn players.
Every day of the year should be Oktoberfest,
regardless of race, religion, or national origin.
Japanese, Mexican, Eskimo, and Pygmy Alto Horn players all in a row,
all playing Polka music.
Lederhosen optional.
(not to be confused with clothing optional)

I had "Duck Dynasty" playing in the background when I composed the above post.
Hearing Uncle Si obviously puts me in a silly mood.

You should give some serious consideration to joining a "british style" brass band. They call them tenor horns instead, but apart from that, you should love it. _________________ "Music is like candy, you throw the (w)rappers away." |

Ha! This is funny! Someone wanted me to play a e Flat Alto horn for something and I did it and I am the same way, I love it! I thought it was a blast....no pun or maybe pun intended. _________________ “Breathe and play the first note with a beautiful sound.” –Allen Vizzutti

I'd play just about any instrument to get the opportunity to play in a British Brass Band. Unfortunately, there aren't any near where I live.
There aren't even many people near where I live.

I have a Miraphone Eb rotary alto (tenor?) horn just sitting in the basement. Someone ought to have that thing... |
