Denver hosted a trumpet competition this past weekend and I was looking forward to trying out some different trumpets from a WIDE variety of exhibitors. But first, before I ended up in the main exhibit hall, I ended up stumbling upon a table with a CarolBrass Mini Pocket trumpet. I'm on a road a ton lately and mouthpiece buzzing just isn't cutting it, so after playing for a bit I was definitely considering a travel horn. At that time Al Hood was playing nearby (on a lovely Blackburn) and John the Trumpet Trader handed it to Al to see if it could play.
Here is the result...

Suffice to say I walked away with the horn...
Adams Brass was there and it was great to meet Miel Adams and discuss his company and horns. The A4 still seems perfect to me in nearly every way, even after trying a dozen others from many manufacturers. It also was great to meet Trent, as nice in person as I could have imagined.
The first step in +1 acquisitions is admitting you have a problem... no more trumpets this year. |

O_O
Pretty cool, and sounds great! Is that smaller than a typical pocket trumpet? Looks particularly tiny. |

Yes, the pocket mini is particularly small, even more so in Al's capable hands. I had to find a tiny mute that fits for hotel playing, which I found (Stomvi). For what it is, it really does play surprisingly good.

'tis the Indian, NOT the arrow...
I saw Crispian Steele-Perkins play the snot out of a garden hose. _________________ Freelance Performer/Educator
