Hello All --
We all know about the ill-fated "mouthpiece honeymoon." I'd like to hear stories about the "mouthpiece bad first date." You tried a mouthpiece for the first time and thought, "This will never work." But then, for some reason, you stuck with it and it turned out to be the best thing since sliced bread. |

I'm not sure I've ever experienced quit that thing, although I did have a bit of an adaption phase with my current lead setup - Warburton 4SVW/KT Backbore - that I might not have stuck with had Ken Titmus not given me some words of caution about when I started with it.
I was coming off of a Schilke 14A4 cup/rim and Ken told me that initially I'd likely lose about a step or two off of my top end, and that my upper range my thin out initially, but to stick with it and it would dial back in. That's exactly what happened too.
I played that same Schilke rim/cup combination for nearly 20 years (first a 14A4a, then just a 14A4) because I just couldn't find anything that I felt worked as well for me, even though I thought it was always a compromise. I've been on the Warburton setup for about 3 years at this point, so it definitely worked out. _________________ Patrick Gleason
