The 1954 Conn Connquest 20 A Cornet I bought on ebay arrived today. Washed, disinfected, lubricated and greased it. Does sound very good.
Made it raw brass. 3rd slide has to be pulled manually.

It came with a Schlike 12 trumpet mouthpiece and a pan am cornet case.

Anyway does have experience with this cornet? Any suggestions?

First: this cornet is quite rare so don't expect too much:

Second: I don't understand the trumpetmouthpiece, a cornet needs a smaller shank. In this case I suppose you will need a Conn short shank mouthpiece, these mp's are 2 1/2/ inch long instead of the 2 3/4 inch of a common modern cornet mouthpiece:

All this is not 100% sure because a lot of receivers of the vintage Conn cornets have been ruined by the use of the wrong mouthpieces. (or even the receiver can be replaced by a modern one in some cases).
Anyway, if you need a real Conn short shank mouthpiece you can start a search on ebay or someting like that or you can get a Mark Curry mp with the right shank:

A normal modern short shank mouthpiece like those of Denis Wick will fit and play reasonably in these cornets but they can wobble a bit cause of the different taper.
With a modern long shank mouthpiece in these pré 1955 Conn cornets there is a serious risk of intonation problems.
