Hi
I know that there have been many thread of this nature of the years, but I fancied starting a light hearted thread, as a bit of fun.
What do you regularly carry with you?
I'll start.
People often ask if I'm going on holiday when they see me turn up, as I'm the type who carries everything.
I have two accessory bags, one for trumpet and one cornet. I'm not sure why I don't one day combine the two, as the contents of one are almost the dupliate of the other.
My cornet one contains:
Brass Band folder
Fold up metal music stand
2 K&M trumpet/cornet stands (for when I need trumpet and cornet)
Small bottles of water
A spare cornet mouthpiece in a mouthpiece pouch
H W Brass Saver pull through
Band tie
Black tie for depping with other bands
Pencil case containing stationery/pencil in magnetic holder/tool for tightening top of stand to stop it flipping backwards with a heavier folder
Pencil case containing music clips and batteries/spare batteries
Mighty Bright light
Lyre (I've never once used it, and it was in the case of a used cornet I bought once)
Spare (previous prescription) reactions glasses which double as sunglasses for outside playing
Denis Wick straight, cup, ET and plunger mutes.
H&B Bucket mute
My trumpet one contains:
Small cardboard orchestra folders
Fold up metal music stand
K&M trumpet/cornet stands + Hercules in the bell stand (for when I need trumpet and cornet)
Small bottles of water
A quad mouthpiece pouch containing a spare mouthpiece cut for sleeves and a James R New 6.5 and 6.25 sleeve for my Yamaha/B&H and Bach 37 trumpets respectfully + spare flugel mouthpiece
Tim Wendt's leadpipe swab
Red brooch/bangle as something red for orchestra uniform
Black Bow Tie for depping with other bands
Pencil case containing stationery/pencil in magnetic holder
Pencil case containing music clips and batteries/spare batteries
Mighty Bright light
Spare (previous prescription) glasses
Valve oil/slide grease since my double trumpet/flugel case has no compartment for oil/grease
Denis Wick straight, cup, ET and plunger mutes.
H&B Bucket mute
H&B Straight and Cup Mutes
I carry my cornet in a single semi-rigid back pack-style case, my Yamaha and Boosey and Hawkes Oxford trumpets in my Yamaha double trumpet case and my Bach trumpet/Bach flugel in a new old stock hard trumpet/flugel case as supplied with an older version Getzen Eterna flugel, which owing to the slightly squashy flugel slot, will fit the wrap of my Bach 183 flugel.
All the best

Interesting idea... for me it would be:
Everyday practicing and auditions:
ACB leather double case with
Bach Chicago C
Bach 72 Bb
Curry 1C, #4 sleeve for Bb and 4.5 sleeve for C
Hetman #3 valve oil
Hetman slide gel
brass buzzer
tuner/metronome combo
plastic shims
Samsung tablet
Earbuds
pencil
No extra bag, as I put my music on my tablet.
For gigs where I need piccolo, I'll just take my Wolfpak quad with the same stuff and add my Yamaha 9830 picc with CURRENTLY Curry 3DE mouthpiece and Blackburn leadpipe, but soon to be Osmun leadpipe with Curry 3P cornet mouthpiece. Might add a trumpet stand or two for gigs.
Haven't needed mutes in a while, but if I do, I'll stuff them in my Wolfpak quad, or bring my Wolfpak mute bag if I have my double case. |

Man, I'm lucky to be doing the kind of gigs I do!
What I carry (usually all in my Torpedo Outlaw case):
Mouthpiece
Oil
Rag
Horn stand (foldable, obviously)
Small tablet
Water
Oh yeah, and a horn.😉

Large tool bag with mutes (each in a Crown Royal bag), K&M instrument stands (tpt, flugel if I need it, clarinet stand for picc if I need it), mute stand, microfiber towels, valve oil, slide oil, bluetooth foot pedal, iPad, leadpipe swab, music-reading glasses, band folder (although I almost always read music on the iPad).
If it's an outdoor concert, I'll bring a folder with printed music instead of the iPad and a large clear plexiglass sheet so the music won't blow away in a gust of wind.
If I'm playing a musical, I'll also bring a backpack with ring binders holding printed music as backup in case the iPad were to have problems, along with a clip-on stand light. Also charging cables for the iPad and bluetooth foot pedal.
Separate bag with Peak music stand.
Either Yamaha double case with tpt(s) and mouthpieces or Protec tpt/flugel case if I need that.
Large bottle with water.
Smart phone with tuner app to check pitch after warm up. _________________ Bb Yamaha Xeno 8335IIS

Buzzer is like a Berp without the resistance, and it's made of metal. It just lets you buzz your mouthpiece like normal but with having your horn in playing position and using your valves.
http://www.brassbuzzer.com/
The "shims" are just little strips of plastic that I'll sometimes put between the mouthpiece and receiver so that some of the sound/air leaks out. It's like a middle step between buzzing and playing on the horn. You get some of the benefits of buzzing while getting to feel the slots on the horn. You can cut up and old ID, credit card, bread bag clip, etc... Anything that's thin, tough plastic. |

Hi
It is interesting that a lot of you are going electronic regarding your music. We are still almost exclusively using sheet music in my part of the world. I know of only one person, a brass band conductor, who is using an iPad.
Take care

This was just among a few early adopters for awhile, but I've noticed it's picking up momentum around here. _________________ Bb Yamaha Xeno 8335IIS

It's only 7", it fits fine, including a tablet case, in the Torpedo mute bag. 7" is actually pretty small, I'm not really reading charts per se, I just have parts of charts on it as more of a reminder. I sort of head up the horn section, so it's probably kind of a security blanket in case I draw a blank on a song we recently added to the set list.

I try to carry as little. Getting too old to lug all that stuff around. Depends on the gig. But at the most:
Bb horn (Gard gig bag and stand in bell)
Flugelhorn (Jupiter hard w/stand in bell)
Music stand (either light weight "wire" stand or portable Manhasset stand w/mute holder)
stand light
pencil
Hetman valve oil
music
Wick straight & cup mutes, Jo-Ral bubble harmon mute, Humes wah-wah
spare batteries

Plunger + pixie mute
EAzy Bucket mute
