What's the best gig worthy keyboard and amp setup for under a grand? Under 2 grand? Is used a safe option?

For amps, I run a pair of Roland KC100's. They were about $200 each when I got them, about 15 years ago. I also have a pair of Marshall practice amps (10w each), but they are pretty weak when I have to deal with hearing-impaired guitarists!

As for keys, my standard rig is a Roland XP-30 (61 keys) and a Nord Electro2 (73 keys), which cover most sounds I want to play. Trying to recommend a keyboard is tougher than a trumpet, since so many are out there. Depending on the type of music, need for quick access to the patches, and overall ease of use, this setup gives me the most flexibility.

I haven't really shopped for stage keys lately, but I really like the Nord family for sounds, effects, and overall ease of use. If you look at pro players, you will see those red instuments in their racks more often than not.

If I were replacing my Roland, I would probably scoop up a Roland FA-06. Really couldn't replace the Electro, so I would just buy another!
