I'm looking for a short course in how to use the Yamaha X-70 synth for a gig. Just want to use the piano voice with no effects. I'm looking at the 64-page manual and getting dizzy.
Can anyone help? _________________ Jim Hatfield

This is not specific to that keyboard, but if you can find "General Midi" or "GM" sounds, which your instrument probably supports, General Midi sound #1 is an acoustic piano. It's likely that there are better piano sounds on the instrument, but General Midi #1 is likely the easiest one to get to. Once you find it, GM #2 through GM #6 are other acoustic and electric piano sounds. General Midi #1 is always acoustic grand piano, on any brand of keyboard that supports GM.
I think this Yamaha model has "voice", "preset", and "General Midi" banks. Find the GM bank and you're almost there. Sorry I can't be much more help. _________________ '75 Bach Strad 180ML/37
