Yeah Tom; Tom is one of those jazz players that the term 'in The moment" was designed for..Joe Farrel`s killing it here too..Nice recording thanks!..In NY at that time there were some jazz trumpet players playing around town that were really playing great; Local folks of a certain vintage will remember the playing of Mike Lawrence, Danny Hayes, and some others that were free lancing in town playing rehearsal bands, loft sessions, and whatever it took to make the rent.. I'm not talking about the folks lucky enough to get record deals and notoriety..(we know the names) Just players playing..Some other cats I remember..Steve Lambert;Rich Vitale,Tim Hagen..inspiring

Interesting post, American Boy.
One of my college teachers said in the 70's, there were all kinds of fantastic players in NY. That being said, straight ahead jazz at that time wasn't as popular, thus many of those cats never got their due, and were then later passed over by the "young lions" a decade later.

I saw him play live for the first time last fall...what a brilliant musician! The quartet played mostly Tom's originals with "There Will Never Be Another You" as an encore. Danny Grissett was phenomenal that night (every other night too, I think). Great show!
So very awesome. Have yet to see Tom live, but it will happen. One of the most creative, intelligent players out there, and he has blown through so much adversity. God bless him.... _________________ Martin Committee 1954
