Hi All

Wouldn't you know it? As soon as I need my alto flugel, one of the clockwork action springs gives way...

New springs are rare as hens' teeth down under, so I'm making a call out - does anyone have a source to locate some please? It would be not only for me, but my tech as well... he'd like to have some up his sleeve for the next muppet to knock on his door with this issue!

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Andy

If you know a good watch/clock repairer he may have a spring that can be cut down to fit, I was able to get a spring that was almost identical to the original for my B & F TARV trumpet from my watchmaker, he charged me $10 for it.

There is a company in the states that has a large range of clock springs, Clockworks. com.

Regards, Stuart.

Alto Flugel? Clockwork springs? Sounds interesting.

What's an Alto Flugel? Thought I knew stuff, but that's a new instrument to me.

The unkind in this world would call it a maching tenor horn (or alto horn, if you live in the US).

It's an Alexander flugel in low Eb. A couple more wraps than a normal rotary flugel... Great for making a low impression.

cheers
