On e*ay, there are two French Besson piccs. Both look like P5-4s but the difference is the engraving on the bell. One of them is the F Besson Meha 60MP. This one has a pretty simple engraving on the bell. The other is just simple the F Besson A/Bb Piccolo Trumpet. However, the engraving on this one is similar to the engraving on the French Besson Mehas and Brevettes.

Are these 2 pretty much the same thing with different engravings? Or are they distinctly different models?

FYI - I'm a bass trombone player and my son is the trumpet player. So this is all new to me.

Here are links for the 2 trumpets:

I didn't know Kanstul was still making Besson branded horns. Why would someone order a Besson pic like the one in the eBay listing over just a normal Kanstul 920?

To my knowledge, Kanstul has not made any of the Besson line of brass for close to 15 years.

As you can see on one of the pics of those piccs (yes - I've been wanting to use that line for quite some time now ), one has "Kanstul" under the "Besson" on the manufacturer's stamp, and the other doesn't.

I don't know much more about the Besson horns. All of my involvement with Kanstul has been with the Kanstul and Burbank horns.

The Kanstul 920 is basically a Schilke P5-4 but with a .460 bore, not the Schilke .450 bore.

I'd love to find a Kanstul 920 in lacquer, with nickel trim and a copper bell to match my 1601, 1510 C trumpet, and 1525 Flugel. Then I'd sell my Silver P5-4

Something like that would be a custom order. I'm sure they'd take care of you.
