I have a King Silvertone cornet s/n 194584 medium bore. The horn is in terrible shape - valves worn, blowout patch on the leadpipe bend, fissure in the 3rd valve slide, bad lacquer wear, some erosion of the metal, etc., etc. Not really playable. But the sterling silver bell is perfect! What's the advisability of buying another classic brass bell King Master in good shape and grafting my bell onto it? _________________ Favorite horns: Yamaha Custom Wayne Bergeron trumpet, 1966 King Master cornet ... |

I think that's OK. You just need to make certain the sterling bell fits the replacement horn body before you buy the replacement horn.
The end result won't be an "official" Silvertone cornet so, to be fair to a new buyer, especially a collector, you'd have to disclose that fact if you ever sold the horn. _________________ HERMOKIWI |

This is really amazing. A silver bell is so soft, usually it will get dented up while the rest of the horn is still like new. As much as I might enjoy a silver bell or a bell with no bell bead, I really hate dents and even pings; so I stick with brass. Copper on a flugel is ok) |
