I'm currently playing a Schilke M3 Symphony mouthpiece, with a Schilke B3 trumpet. And It's a nice combo. I really don't feel the need for a "lead" or commercial mouthpiece anymore. But I've been toying with going back to a Monette.
And honestly, I used to work in a music store, and I knew all about the latest and greatest stuff, but I'm a little more out of the loop now, and I'd love some insight from you guys who really know.
Thanks! |

Your post doesn't really tell us much about what you're looking for, or about your needs. Since your current mouthpiece was designed by Karl Hammond, I recommend calling Karl (who has his own line of mouthpieces which are excellent) to see what he would recommend. I am confident he will be able to guide you in the right direction.
Best of luck,

Have you checked out the mouthpiece forum? There should be plenty of similar discussions there. |

I can tell you my experiences. I never felt like Schilke trumpets liked Monette mouthpieces in the standard or heavier weights, so in the past, I have used XLT weight mouthpieces on Schilke trumpets. However, I started playing a Resonance model of my preferred mouthpiece, and it work GREAT on the Schilke trumpets I own, including a B1L and a B3! I will say, the Prana versions of mouthpieces are too open for me, so I've only used the classic Monette Resonance pieces.
I think the resonance pieces are definitely a great option for all horns and players.

Bad advice. Too logical. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird
