On a very old looking trompet i see the word "ruTone" on the bell ( before the R i cant read ) and a number on each valve:

valve 1 78
valve 2 17 16 ( picture of an anchor )
valve 3 76

I dont find any info , maybe you can help me?

Thx , Ewout[/img]

Tru Tone was a Buescher trade mark. Buescher was an independent company before they got swallowed up by Selmer/Bundy/Bach. The Buescher 400 was considered a pro horn.

An anchor on the 2nd valve is a pretty good indicator that it was made by Bohland and Fuchs. The sequential valve numbers (I'm guessing the 2nd valve actually has "77" stamped on it) are common to older European-made instruments, too.

True Tone, actually. This is likely a stencil named to fool people.

Hey Tom,
My English is not that good and I dont know exactly what you mean on the reaction of Ed but on the bell is stamped TruTone. I took a fieuw hours googling , thanks of the reactions , and I have a better sign now.

1898 - 1929 Tjechië TruTone
1939 - 1938 south Germany Bohland and Fuchs
1938 - 1954 USA Buesscher
swollow by Selmer etc

Do you think the list above is right ? I realy like to know cause i like the story behind as all my brass and mics I have

Greatz
