Hello,
i'm looking for good sounding bigband charts for our female singer.
Tempo medium-up to uptempo with some nice playing for the horns too
Which charts do you recommend?
Thanks!
Tobias

One chart that my big band plays is the Billy May arrangement of "That Old Black Magic". Fun chart! You can buy it on elinesjazz.com
We tend to take it a little bit faster than their sample recording.

Try Such Sweet Thunder, David Berger's publishing company. They can provide a huge range of big band numbers with vocals. Most of the available repertoire is not listed for sale on the website, but if you contact them directly at https://www.suchsweetthundermusic.com/pages/contact-us they can help you find what you are looking for.

Dave Wolpe has written a bunch of charts that are commercially available. They are well written and practically play themselves. The only downside, everybody uses them.

Eric Richard's arrangement of "Night & Day" is awesome. So is the Gordon Goodwin arrangement of "Too Close For Comfort." They're both available on ejazzlines. Also on ejazzlines are Natalie Cole and Bette Midler arrangements. Great charts!

Back in the late 90's played a decent arrangement of "I Can Cook Too" by Patti Austin.

Why Don't You Do Right? (From Who Framed Roger Rabbit) is a bit of a torch song, but if it's in her range, it's a really nice chart, including some fun plunger work back and forth between solo trumpet and the vocalist.

It's arranged by Jerry Nowak, and I know most of his stuff is aimed at high school jazz band level, but this particular chart works really nicely.

The Swwet Time Suite from Kenny Wheeler is an awesome piece for big band and female voice, but I don't know if the score is available.

Possibly arranged by Patrick Williams (Sinatraland) who was her music director on her Tribute to Ella tour.
