A few months ago I walked into the room to see David Letterman talking directly to Alan Chez and paying him huge compliments. DL said something like, "He is the guy you want to have if you need a trumpet player." Apparantly the band was given a feature segment; I was most disgruntled to have missed it, because I have never seen them play anything but bumper music into/out of commercial.

Tom Malone and Alan Chez were both on trumpet for at least one tune last night coming out of a commercial. I've also seen him on piccolo for the Sousa stuff!
