I just ran across this on Byron's web site. Plan a recital for your self at home. Run it non-stop, just as if you were doing it for an audience! I'm going to take the Phil Smith Contest Solo CD, spend a couple of weeks on those solos we all know, and try it!
Maybe three weeks......a month......
But the idea of a recital for yourself non-stop is great!

Hey Dave!
I used to do this with Charlier etudes when I was studying with Claude. On free Sundays, I'd play 6, then 12 the next week and finally did the whole book.
Of course there's no one to verify this because I was the only one in the audience.
PS. Thanks for helping my friend Jim find a band to play in.

Yes...I think this is a must...this passge is from my webpage...
"I also believe that you should have a "concert routine" which, after a warm up, you should play right through once only, and use as a check/test to see what type of progress you are making. I have a "concert routine" for every style. It must be demanding but not totally out of reach. You can then adjust your practice accordingly and after a few more days use the "concert routine" again to see what the result was."

That's a good idea. Byron never ceases to amaze.

Yes, I think that is the best thing you can do before a big solo or something. It sikes you up so you don't get stage fright. It also lets you know what it feels like without stopping during a song. You should do it often _________________ SCHILKE
