Does anyone know the name or whereabouts of the guy who played trumpet/toured with the late Julius Wechter's Baja Marimba Band? He was pictured on most (if not all) of the album covers -- short in height, dark hair/mustache, cigar, and what looks like a Greek fisherman's hat. Always had an "out-of-sorts" expression on his face.
Thanks---<Rick |

Hi,
I think his name may have been Lee Katzman, but I'll do a little research and stand corrected if I am wrong. If so, I'll post a correction myself. I am not sure of his present whereabouts, but...
Head on over to http://www.amcorner.com
Search the site, and post the question if you cannot find anything - but I think you will. There is a forum devoted to Julius Wechter and the Baja Marimba band there. Also, many very knowledgeable people on all the A&M artists, recordings, trivia, etc. I think I recall posts about this very subject over there.
I heard the BMB back in 1969. Excellent group. When Herb Alpert produced something, you can count on excellence and some of the best players available at the time... |
