|
|
Hi Everyone
I bought trumpet Yamaha 6610s serial number 201xxx
engraving 'Made in Japan' is on the mouthpiece receiver but not on the second valve.
The trumpet has no inscriptions engraved on bell section.
I wonder if the trumpet is genuine because most of the trumpets of this model have inscriptions engraved in other places.
how old can this trumpet be?
Thank you for any help

The 6610 was a mid-90s resurrection of the 761. So it could be 28+ years old at the outside.
The receiver marking strikes me as odd. I have seen Yamaha mark receivers this way in horns they made for stencil by others, but among all my Yamahas that reach back to 1972 for the earliest, only the 2000+ Xeno lacks the Yamaha tuning forks logo and name on the receiver. _________________ Ron Berndt

Awhile back, Yamaha did not do engraving or marking on the bell - I think it was because at that time they thought it could affect the bell vibrations.
I don't know if that applies to the 6610s trumpets _________________ Most Important Note ? - the next one !
KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'. |

What else does it say on the mouth pipe? Yamaha, Yamaha Custom?
Is 6610s on the 2nd valve?
Just checking, because in between the 761 and the 6610S, there was a 9620 Custom model (which was for all intents and purposes, a 6610) |

Tom,
I think you're getting some well meaning guesses here but the early 6610 horns are indeed exactly as you describe. Those are nice playing horns.
Enjoy |
