Hello guys , do you now what cornet plays Dick Cathcart in this video , at some point Charlie Parlato plays the second part with the same (i guess) horn and both have a wonderful fat american type cornet sound , i suspect that is a Connstellation 38A or a King supersonic.
Any info is welcome.

Based on the position of the adjustable third slide ring mount (with the locking screw going in on top), I'd say it's not a Conn (and certainly not a Connstellation 38A). It's much more likely a King Silversonic; I can't see the tuning slide configuration thanks to Mr. Cathcart's left hand, but the downturn of the leaderpipe certainly drops low enough to allow the "underslung" tuning slide characteristic of the Silvertone and Silversonic. _________________ "He that plays the King shall be welcome . . . Looking at other videos of him playing, the tuning slide is a conventional style and not underslung. _________________ Richard
No. Regardless of the leaderpipe/main tuning slide configuration, the Connstellation 38A has the locking screw for the third slide finger ring on the side of the receiver box, not on the top (as is clearly visible in the video you provided).
Plus, see my post directly below. _________________ "He that plays the King shall be welcome . . . " (Hamlet Act II, Scene 2, Line 1416)

Looks like an underslung King to me. It's very clear at 1:58 into the video, especially if you expand the video to full screen. _________________ "He that plays the King shall be welcome . . . " (Hamlet Act II, Scene 2, Line 1416)

The first video has two cornets and the second player has a moment where we can see the underslung tubing. A nice performance!
The second video, Chanson d'Amour with the Lennon Sisters, is much clearer. They really really zoom in on his fingers--important! Remember to manicure before gigs, please. _________________ Getzen 800DLX cornet

Richard III, that's clearly a different cornet than the one in the videos giakara and I referenced. The third slide ring mount is on the side there, almost like a Martin Committee.
There's nothing saying that Mr. Cathcart can't have multiple horns for different purposes. In this video:

I’m a big Jack Webb fan and first encountered Dick Cathcart on Jack’s radio show Pete Kelly’s Blues and the feature film. He was also in the Dragnet film in the 50s. Jack was a huge fan of cornet jazzers and he couldn’t have picked a better one than Dick Cathcart. _________________ Scooter Pirtle
