Remove the lyre from the clamp ... |
... then cut off the music-holding part of the lyre and bend the square stock into a hook shape. If there is not enough length in that short lyre, find an old, long lyre that came up from the 3rd slide for your bendable brass stock.
I had (have?? Not seen it in years!) one of those clamp-on-the-leadpipe lyres. I used to line it with a few layers of masking tape to help protect the finish on my silver horn. Still, clamping down tight enough keep a music folder from twisting around made me cringe a bit. |
I have ordered this product. I have other lyres with plenty of extra length to use and bend. I'll post when I get the whole thing installed. Thanks. _________________ Richard

The thumb screws stick out a lot. My guess is that they are a standard thread that you could replace with knurled head screws.
If you are going to bend your old lyre square rod, you should probably heat up the bend point with a torch first. |

I will probably attach the thing around the bend so it will be out of the way. The lyre rod can curve around the bend and then hook. _________________ Richard
