I have a big performenace on friday. Our school are doing a 1h30 concert. I wonder if there is any thing i can do to keep my choop working all the time cause i had my general practice tonigh and after 1h i was demolished...well...maybe not but i started to become sucky..any thing ot do betwwen song? _________________ Nicolas Marcotte

Hi Welk,
If you have someone else playing the same chart it's not necessary to play every note. Just a few measures rest here and there helps in the long run. You need to keep the blood circulating.
I find if I have some ice water to soak my chops in it really helps. Don't know why but it does.

If you aren't the only one on a part, work it out with one of the other players so that you can take turns to lay out for a few bars here or there.
When I was an Army Bandsman and we did a cut-down band job (4 trumpets) we'd have 2 firsts, a second and a third. The two firsts would trade strains since everything pretty much repeats, to make it easier to get through the marches. _________________ Patrick Gleason

before the performance, drink a lot of water. it will helf flush the lactic acid build up (the reason muscles cramp when exercises) and it's neccessary for the muscles to rebuild themselves. _________________ --Matt--
