Has anyone heard the amazing flugel playing of this woman? It is absolutely gorgeous. I would like to hear from anyone who knows of any other great classical flugel players - a neglected area! |

Hi Danny
When London Brass came to our place Anne and Paul Beniston were at Glyndebourne so there were a couple of deps in the trumpet section. One was the amiable Martin Hurrel who played Anne's pad. His flugel had just been bashed and he was using some dodgy looking piece of plumbing but was brilliant. All registers were beautifully clear, the intonation spot on - the playing was just incredibly tidy. That was whilst swapping between Bb, flugel and picc.
all the best

You might want to check out Sergei Nakariakov. I recently heard him live, fantastic player on both trumpet and flugelhorn. To hear his flugelplaying you could either go to his website or listen to his 'No limit' CD (for example).
